PM directs NBR to take steps against tax defaulters

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the National Board of Revenue(NBR) to move fast for quick disposal of all the pending income-tax cases to realize the outstanding money from the defaulters, reports UNB.
She gave the directive while presiding over the quarterly financial and economic review meeting at the Prime Minister's Office Wednesday.
In this context, the PM asked the NBR authority to take firm steps against the tax-dodgers so that "in no way they can get tax exemptions".
Briefing newsmen after
the meeting, Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Nazrul Islam said the meeting discussed in detail the country's existing economic situation, financial policies and achievements, economic growth as well as future plans to boost up the national economy.
Sheikh Hasina expressed satisfaction over the country's economic achievements, saying: "The nation is now on the right track and will be able to attain more financial growth during the tenure of the present government."
She said her government would take all-out measures to further strengthen the NBR for increasing the country's revenue income.
