PM flies to New York Sept 23 to attend UNGA

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will fly to New York, US on September 23 to attend the UN Sustainable Development Summit and 70th UN General Assembly (UNGA).
She will lead a 60-member high-powered official delegation, including the finance minister, expatriate welfare minister, foreign minister, and prime minister's advisers for political affairs, international affairs and economic affairs.
A business delegation will also accompany the premier. She will stay in New York till October 1.
Sheikh Hasina will address UN Sustainable Development Summit on September 27 and UNGA General Debate on September 30, Foreign Minister A H Mahmood Ali said at a press conference on Thursday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. "She will deliver speech at General Debate of 70th UNGA in Bangla like previous years," he said.
The Prime Minister might have a number of bilateral meetings with the leaders of India, China, the US and other countries, but schedule for the meetings are yet to be fixed.
Sheikh Hasina will give speech in a meeting styled 'Leaders' Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism', organised by US President Barack Obama.
She will also attend a meeting titled 'Fostering Sustainable Economic Growth, Transformation and Promoting Sustainable Consumption and Production' as co-chair with the Belgian Premier on September 26.
"The PM will also attend high-level summit on peace operations, global leaders' meeting on gender equality and women's empowerment, moving from MDGs to SDGs: Bangladesh Experience and Expectations," Mr. Ali told reporters.
Replying to a question, he said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the stand of showing 'zero tolerance' against all sorts of terrorism whatever the name is.
The foreign minister (FM) said his French and German counterparts will arrive in Bangladesh on Sep 21 for a joint three-day visit.
"Such a visit has never taken place before. This is a historic visit," he said.
Replying to a question, Mr Ali said his French counterpart, Laurent Fabius, proposed the joint visit when they met in Paris in June.
"France and Germany are both friendly countries that supported us during our war of independence."
He said he will accompany the two leaders during their visit to Patuakhali district to see the ongoing projects to cope with the effects of climate change.
He said Bangladesh has been extremely vulnerable to climate change, and this visit, ahead of the Paris climate summit, will help the country strongly argue its case.
