PM in Beijing, meets Chinese counterpart today

BEIJING, June 8: A red carpet was rolled out to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she arrived in Beijing from Kunming Sunday afternoon, reports UNB.

A special flight carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at Beijing Capital International Airport around 2:00 PM (local time).

On her arrival in the Chinese capital, Sheikh Hasina was received by Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of China Liu Zhenmin and Bangladesh Ambassador to China Muhammad Azizul Haque.

On Monday Hasina will deliver her keynote speech at China Institute of International Studies. In the afternoon, she will hold official talks with Chinese premier Li Keqiang during which both the countries are expected to complete negotiations on the construction of a deep seaport at Sonadia in Cox's Bazar.

The talks will be followed by a signing ceremony.

In the evening, she will attend a banquet to be hosted by her Chinese counterpart. On Tuesday, the Prime Minister will deliver another keynote speech at the Bangladesh China Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum.

She will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng.

She will leave Beijing on the morning of June 11 for home and reach Dhaka in the afternoon.
