PM leaves for Kuwait today

Development assistance, investment and labour issues would figure high at her official talks with the Kuwaiti leaders during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 3-day state visit to the Gulf state from today (Sunday), reports UNB.
The Prime Minister will fly for Kuwait at 2 pm today. She will leave Kuwait on Tuesday evening by the special flight and return home early Wednesday.
On Monday, she will hold official talks with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Bangladesh will seek assistance for development of communications infrastructures, including the mega-project of Padma Bridge, and support for the country's energy sector, officials here said.
Presently, Kuwait Development Fund is providing aid worth US$ 660 million for 21 projects in Bangladesh.
A proposal for recruiting more workforces from Bangladesh will come up prominently, the officials said.
Some 0.25 million Bangladeshis are now employed in the oil-rich Middle-eastern country.
Before the official talks, Hasina will pay a courtesy call on Emir Sabah IV Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Monday morning at Dewani Emir. "We expect a productive outcome of the Prime Minister's visit," a senior Foreign Ministry official told UNB.
He said the warm and friendly ties between Bangladesh and Kuwait have been clearly manifested through the sending of a special aircraft by the Kuwait Emir to carry Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and members of her entourage.
She will visit the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce where she will have lunch with Minister of Commerce Ahmad Baqer Al-Abdullah.
