Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Germany next month to attend Munich Security Conference, foreign minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said on Thursday.

"Honourable Prime Minister has decided to join Munich Security Conference and we are now working on bilateral meetings (to be held on the sidelines in Germany from February 16 to 18)," he said, reports BSS.

The foreign minister made the remarks to reporters after holding separate meetings with French ambassador in Bangladesh Marie Masdupuy and German ambassador Achim Tröster at foreign ministry in Dhaka.

It will be the first overseas post-election visit to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while the Munich Security Conference has been termed as the most high-profile annual dialogue on global security issues.

Apart from bilateral engagement with the German leaders, the Bangladesh premier is likely to have meetings with global leaders on the sidelines of the conference.

Earlier, in 2019, the Prime Minister attended the Security Conference.

The Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2024 will take place from February 16 to 18 this year, at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich, Germany.
