Police nab Bangla Bhai aide

Police arrested an associate of Siddiqul Islam, alias Bangla Bhai, leader of the banned Islamist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), from Naogaon. The arrested, hafez Masud, an operation officer of JMB, was held from Maskipur Bazar of Atrai early Saturday. He is the son of Taslim Uddin of Patisar village under the same upazila. Atrai police chief Moazzem Hossain said Masud was absconding in many cases, including four murders, abduction, loot and extortion. He was missing since the arrest of Bangla Bhai, and allegedly trying to gather JMB members in the locality. The official also said Masud, led by Shayekh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai, killed and kidnapped men and collected ransom at Atrai and Raninagar in Noagaon in 2004. — bdnews24.com
