Pop legend Azam Khan no more

Pop legend and freedom fighter Azam Khan died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka Sunday morning at the age of 61, report agencies. Azam Khan, popularly known as 'Pop Guru' was suffering from oral cancer was on life support at the city's Square Hospital since March 27 and shifted to CMH Wednesday. A poll of gloom descended in the cultural arena and elsewhere as the news of his death spread. President M Zillur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia expressed deep shock at his death. Azam Khan's body will be taken to Shaheed Minar today (Monday) morning where people will show tribute to him. He will be buried at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals graveyard after his namaz-e-janaza at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Zohr prayers today (Monday). The singer left behind wife Shaheda Begum, two daughters, one son and a host of friends, admirers and fans to mourn his death.
