President, PM mourn deaths

President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the deaths and injuries caused by a stampede during distribution of Zakat clothes in Mymensingh on Friday, report agencies.
The President directed the authorities to ensure proper treatment of those injured in the incident.
In a statement on Friday, he prayed for the dead and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her condolence message prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
At least 25 people were killed in the stampede at the town's Atul Chakravorty Road around 5am on Friday, when a large number of dole seekers rushed towards the narrow gate of a chewing tobacco factory as soon as it was opened for free clothes.
More than 50 women, injured in the incident, were undergoing treatment at the Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.
