SAVAR, Sep 15 (UNB): Production in the troubled Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) here resumed to normal Saturday as army, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police patrols guarded the export-oriented apparel hub after the latest unrest.
DEPZ sources said 82 factories, out of 88, were opened Saturday. Four of the factories had been declared closed earlier amid labour unrest.
Police held Farida, wife of Feather Light Ltd worker Helal. A flying rumour over killing Helal sparked off violence in the DEPZ area Friday that left over 100 people, including 18 policemen, injured.
Meanwhile, Ashulia thana sub-inspector (SI) Basirul Alam filed a case against over 100 people for damaging government property and launching attack on police.
Three of the accused of the case -- Ilyas, Monir and Adam Ali -- were arrested in this connection.
Ashulia thana OC Qamrul Islam said the unidentified accused would be caught soon with the help of video footage.
Police said Helal, sewing operator of Feather Light Ltd factory, talked to ASP (Circle) Motiur Rahman over cell phone and he informed that he (Helal) was now staying in Sylhet.
