Quota reform: Notification issued on SC verdict

A notification on the order of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court over quota reform was issued Monday night as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved it, according to TV news.

Earlier on the day Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain said, 'The notification file has been sent to the Prime Minister for approval, according to a UNB report.

The minister said that the demand of the protesting students regarding quota reform has been met. Now, the quota in government jobs will be effective once the notification is issued, added the minister.

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday delivered its much-anticipated verdict on quota system in government jobs, keeping 93 per cent of government jobs merit-based, 5 percent for children of freedom fighters, one percent for ethnic minorities and one percent for people with disability and the third gender people.
