RAB seizes huge cash, ornaments, firearms, Yaba

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized four firearms, about Tk 285 million in foreign currencies, three trunks of gold ornaments and diamonds, some Viagra tablets, some Yaba tablets and 400 bottles of alcoholic beverages in an overnight raid on the house of a Hotel Purbani director in the city's Dhanmondi Road No-27 area early Tuesday, reports bdnews24.com.
The seizure list also includes Tk 5.1 million in Bangladesh currency, several credit cards, bank cheques, four passports and three knives.
However, no arrest was made.
The elite force widened its search for Purbani director Mahbubur Rahman Joynal and his girlfriend Jannatul Ferdous, a model, who RAB officers said, had peddled Yaba tablets.
RAB sources said, Jannatul, nicknamed Nikki or Ena, had long been living in the building. Among the passports seized from the building, one is Jannatul's. According to details in the passport, she is 22 years old.
The RAB was not sure whether the firearms - three guns and one revolver - were unlicensed. "We didn't get any documents on the arms yet.
