Dhaka city witnessed waterlogging in parts following a one-and-a-half-hour rainfall on Wednesday noon.

Rainwater submerged parts of Jatrabari, Dania, Green Road, Mirpur, Moha-mmadpur, Shantinagar, Malibagh, Demra, Badda, Kuril and Baridhara areas.

The local residents of those neighbourhoods complained that rainwater could not flow through clogged drains.

Traffic jams also formed in the waterlogged areas due to stagnation of water.

Rickshaw-pullers and CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers charged dwellers a bit high fare after the rainfall.

The Met office said 24-millimetre rainfall was recorded over the last 24 hours in Dhaka.

A weatherman says rain is likely to fall over all divisions in the next 24 hours.
