Rajdhani Unnayan Katripakkha (RAJUK) filed a case against owner and engineer of under-construction Impulse Medical College and Hospital a day after pilings of the concrete structure collapsed injuring four people, police said.
Mahakhali zone officer of the city development authority Shafiqul Islam Saturday night filed the case with the Industrial Police Station accusing the hospital managing director Prof Ali Zaher al-Amin and ITCL engineer Shamim Akter for the faulty pilings.
Islamic Trade Consortium Limited (ITCL) was constructing the multi-storied hospital in the capital's East Nakhalpara area.
A sub-inspector (SI) of the police station said they would take legal action against the accused persons.
The SI further said several other cases were also filed with the police station by local residents who were affected by the collapse that forced the authorities to disconnect domestic gas lines to avert any unexpected incident.
After visiting the spot of incident, RAJUK chairman told reporters that the three-member probe body they formed was asked to submit its report by seven working days. "The findings of the committee will later be included in the case as subsidiary documents," he added.
The members of the probe body visited the place of accident and said the construction firm ignored the Building Codes which caused the collapse.
At least four tin-roofed houses and a stretch of a street collapsed and cracks developed in several other adjacent buildings Saturday due to the faulty piling procedures of the hospital.
Firemen and army personnel started sandbagging at the place of the under-construction building. They said at least three more days will be needed to complete their work.
Meanwhile, leaders of the Building Construction Workers' Association protested the faulty pilings of the private hospital, demanding compensation for the injured labours.
The injured construction workers are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
