PATUAKHALI, Feb 6, (BSS): Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Friday declared that if his party is voted to power, they will recover all laundered money from abroad and deposit it into the state treasury to initiate a journey of national development.
Speaking as the chief guest at an election rally held at the Bauphal Upazila Public Field, Dr. Rahman emphasized that the recovered funds would be prioritized for the development of the country's most deprived and oppressed regions.
The rally was organized in support of Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, the 11-party alliance candidate for the Patuakhali-2 (Bauphal) constituency.
Reflecting on the nation's political history, the Jamaat chief stated that the political systems of the last 54 years since independence have only offered the public corruption, extortion, "case-trading," occupation, fascism, and a culture of impunity.

He asserted that his party's primary goal is to change this landscape and build a 'New Bangladesh'.
"If we get the opportunity, our hands will be completely clean," Dr. Rahman said, adding that his party does not engage in extortion or corruption and will not allow anyone else to do so.
He further expressed a strong stance against case-trading, noting that no one would be given the opportunity to exploit the legal system for business.
Addressing economic crimes, Dr. Rahman alleged that approximately Tk 28 lakh crore has been looted and laundered out of the country.
He vowed that under their leadership, no one would be allowed to become a leader by looting banks, nor would there be any further opportunities for stock market manipulation or the theft of project funds.
