RMG workers agitate in city for arrears

Several hundred workers of a ready-made garments (RMG) factory staged demonstration in the city's Mogbazar area on Sunday afternoon, disrupting traffic movement on Mogbazar-Mouchak road for about two hours.
Sources said over 1,000 workers of Century Garments came out of the factory and started staging demonstration at Maghbazar crossing at 4pm, demanding payment of their salaries, overdue for the last two months.
They took position on Mogbazar-Mouchak road, which caused heavy traffic jam in the area and untold sufferings to the people.
On receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The workers left the spot when police assured them that the factory owner would pay their salaries ahead of Eid.
