CHITTAGONG, Apr 11 (bdnews24.com): Garment workers went on rampage setting fire to a bus and damaging several others following the death of their two fellows in a road accident at Kalurghat in the port city. Police said workers of a readymade garment (RMG) factory of Azim Group set ablaze a bus as it hit their two co-workers around 8:10am, leaving them dead on the spot. Another worker was also injured. The victims could not be identified immediately. At one stage, workers of nearby factories joined them and vandalised several vehicles. UNB from Narayanganj adds: Miscreants slaughtered to death a security man of a RMG unit at the factory in Masdair area in Fatullah Monday. The killers also looted Tk 87,000 from Mother Colour Thread, an export-oriented RMG unit. The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek, 45, son of late Kadam Ali of Babuganj of Barisal district and a night guard of the factory. Two workers of the RMG, Saleha and Sabiha, discovered his throat-slit body as they found the factory gate open at about 10am. He was employed at the factory two years ago. Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy and arrested a factory worker, Mizan in this connection. Police suspect criminals might have entered the factory and looted the money after hacking him late night.
