At least 36 people were killed and many more injured in road accidents across the country during the last four days, including the three-day Eid vacation that began on Friday, reports UNB.
Of them, 10 people were killed on Friday, while five people on the Eid day (Saturday), 17 on Sunday and four on Monday.
On Monday, five people were killed and two others injured in road accidents in Mymensingh and Bogra districts.
In Mymensingh, three people, including a physician and his daughter were killed and two others injured when a bus hit their private car on Mymensingh-Dhaka highway at Bagan in Trishal upazila in the afternoon.
In Bogra, an unidentified old woman was killed when a bus knocked her down while crossing Dhaka-Bogra highway at Mirpur Bazar in Sherpur upazila in the afternoon.
On Sunday, 17 people were killed and 65 others injured in a fatal road crash at Mulibari level-crossing on the western side of Bangabandhu Bridge in Sadar upazila of Sirajganj district.
On Saturday, five people were killed and 16 others injured in road accidents in Comilla and Bogra districts on the Eid day.
In Comilla, three people, including a man and his son were killed and 16 others injured in road accidents in Burichang and Chandina upazilas of the district on the Eid day.
In Burichang, a man and his son were crushed under the wheels of a speeding bus at Debpur on Comilla-Burichang Regional highway at Debpur in Burichang upazila around 9 am on Saturday.
In Chandina, Comilla, a woman was killed and 16 others were injured as a bus overturned on Dhaka-Chittagong highway on Saturday.
In Bogra, two school students were killed when a truck hit a motorcycle at Gokul on Bogra-Rangpur highway in Sadar upazila. On Friday, 10 people were killed and 82 people injured in road accidents in Sirajganj, Rangpur, Bogra and Munshiganj districts.
In Sirajganj, five people, including two children, were killed and 25 others injured as a Gaibandha-bound bus fell into a ditch on the western side of the Bangabandhu Bridge link road in Kamarkhan upazila on Friday.
In Rangpur, a man was killed and 50 others were injured as a bus overturned in Mithapukur upazila early Friday.
In Munshiganj, two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on-collision between a bus and a CNG run auto-rickshaw at Dogachi in Louhajang upazila on Friday morning.
In Bogra, an unidentified man was killed and four others injured when a bus overturned at Noymile in Shahjahanpur upazila on Friday.
Besides, Mahbubul Alam, 65, a freedom fighter of Karatkola village in Shibganj upazila was killed when a bus hit him near Mahasthan Bus Stand area in the upazila, also on Friday.
