RUCSU poll pushed back to Oct 16

Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RUCSU) polls have been pushed back to October 16, although all preparations for the long-awaited election were nearly complete.
The poll schedule has been changed four times, while the election timetable has been revised on at least seven occasions.
Although RU officials suspended their shutdown on Wednesday (September 24) after giving a seven-day ultimatum, BNP-leaning teachers continued their boycott amid tensions revolving around the ward quota.
Speaking at a press briefing, Professor Dr Amirul Islam, general secretary of the nationalist teachers' forum, said, "We have not withdrawn our programme yet. We will continue until our demands are fulfilled."
Student reactions, however, remain divided. Jamaat-e-Islami-backed Islami Chhatra Shibir and several other panels strongly protested the deferral of the polls, while BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and its allies appeared more satisfied with the postponement.
