S Arabia to let Bangladeshis switch jobs

Saudi Arabia will allow Bangladeshi workers to switch jobs on same work permit or 'Aquama', the Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni said Wednesday, reports bdnews24.com.
Dipu Moni who is with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the tour to the kingdom told the news agency by phone at 10:00am that the prime minister and her entourage performed Umrah Tuesday night.
"Earlier, she met with King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud in (capital) Riyadh in the afternoon," she said and added that the meeting was successful.
The foreign minister quoted the Saudi king as telling the prime minister that his government would allow increasing number of Bangladeshi workers to go and work in Saudi Arabia.
At least two million skilled and unskilled Bangladeshi workers are currently on the employment rolls of the oil-rich Saudis, who would not so far be allowed to switch jobs keeping their work permits unchanged.
The prime minister flew to Saudi Arabia Monday midnight on a five-day tour, her first since she took over on January 6.
