School banking in the offing

Bangladesh Bank has asked the commercial banks to introduce school banking to encourage students to develop the habit of savings, officials said Tuesday. "We've taken the measure to expand the country's banking services," a senior official of the Bangladesh Bank (BB) told the FE. He also said there is a need to encourage students to save with banks and contribute to economic development. The central bank issued a circular in this connection Tuesday and advised the chief executives and managing directors of all scheduled banks for taking effective measures in this regard.
