Shafiul Huq made new army chief

Lieutenant General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq has been appointed the new chief of Bangladesh Army for a term of three years from June 25 next, an ISPR release said in the city on Wednesday.
He will remain the Army Chief until June 25, 2018 afternoon, a Defence Ministry notification published in the city said, reports BSS.
Lieutenant General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq will replace outgoing Army Chief General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan.

Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director Shaheenul Islam has confirmed.
Born in 1958, Huq joined the Bangladesh Army in 1978. He has been serving as the PSO since 2013.
His brother Annisul Huq was elected mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation in April last.
