CHITTAGONG, Aug 13: The shop owners and wholesalers here are hesitating to display price charts of essential commodities in their sales outlets as directed by the Commerce Minister Faruk Khan.
Market monitoring to curb price hike by profiteers and launching of mobile courts in the market are yet to start also although traders and shop owners discussed the issue with the local administration at Chittagong Circuit House Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, retailers and wholesalers, shop owners association, fruit traders, police, BDR, RAB, media representatives and district administration chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury.
It was decided in the meeting that the price list of consumer goods would be on display at retail shops and wholesale market after revising the prices of goods. The meeting decided to form a committee comprising representatives of all concerned including the BSTI, which will soon start monitoring the consumer prices.
It was also decided that the markets and shopping complexes will decorate their markets in a simple manner in order to save electricity during the Ramadan.
