A brief spell of rain in the morning and the evening on Monday provided relief for city-dwellers from the ongoing sweltering heat in the past few days in Dhaka like other parts of the country.
According to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the capital city, however, was not officially hit by a heat wave, but the torrid humidity made life uncomfortable.
By around noon on the day, dark clouds gathered and a gust of wind began to blow after 12:30 pm. Rain started to fall in different parts of Dhaka for a short period. The rainfall is expected to lower the temperature by about 2 degrees Celsius.
There is also a forecast of rain or thundershowers across the country today (Tuesday). There is also a possibility of a drop in day and night temperatures, according to the BMD.
Rain or thunder showers accompanied by lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind are likely at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions today (Tuesday). The sky is expected to remain partly cloudy during the period.
