Siemens firm to support Dhaka with cutting-edge technologies

Siemens Bangladesh Ltd celebrated Saturday its 50-year anniversary in Dhaka with a commitment to support Bangladesh with its cutting-edge technologies, high-quality products and rich experience.
Siemens activities in Bangladesh focus on developing the infrastructure in the country, with Bangladeshi partners in areas of power generation, transmission and distribution, automation and drives, medical solutions, transportation system, industrial solutions and services and home appliances, said Klaus Wucherer, head of Asia-Australia operations and member of the Siemens AG Corporate executive committee, at a press conference at Radisson Water Garden Hotel in the city.
He said Siemens aims at transferring know-how and state-of-the art technology from Germany into the hands of Bangladeshi employees and entrepreneurs for continued partnership and bright future together.
Wucherer said his company has committed its investment for sustainable and profitable business growth in Bangladesh.
He noted with satisfaction that Bangladesh is putting greater importance to innovation and said Siemens is willing to become even more actively involved in socio-economic development activities of Bangladesh.
Stephan Schneider, senior vice President, Eric Klein, vice president, of the Corporate Strategies for Asia and Australia region, Rudolf P. Klink, managing director and CEO, Salahuddin Taimur, head of Corporate Communications and Marketing, and Humayun Kabir Titu, Corporate Communications and Marketing manager, of Siemens Bangladesh Limited were, among others, also present at the press conference.
Rudolf P. Klink, managing director and CEO of Siemens Bangladesh Limited, said in Bangladesh, besides business, Siemens is also involved in activities aiming at community development of this country.
As part of corporate social responsibility, he said, Siemens Bangladesh is currently working with three different institutes that are providing services toward child education.
Besides, Klink said the 'Werner von Siemens Excellence Award' will be given once a year to the three best groups of university students for their outstanding contribution to innovation in electrical and electronics sector.
A panel of judges comprising teachers and authors from the leading technical universities and Siemens management will jointly evaluate the concept papers and finalise the projects, he said.
With an annual business volume of approximately euro 153 million and a workforce of more than 200 employees in Bangladesh, Klink said, Siemens is the largest German investment company in the country.
The company, established 160 years ago, expanded its activities to over 190 countries and employed half a million people from across the globe.
