Six burn to death in Uttara home fire

Six people of two families burnt to death in a fire at a seven-storey house in Dhaka's Uttara area on Friday morning, officials concerned said but couldn't immediately give details.
According to the Fire Service all six victims belonged to two families.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara West Police Station Rafiqul Ahmed said following the incident of fire, three members of one family died at Kuwait Friendship Hospital while two at Uttara Specialised Hospital and one at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The deceased are three family members-Fazle Rabbi, 38, Haris, 52, and Rahab, 17-and three others: Afsana, Rodela Akter, 14, and a two-and-a-half-year-old Risan.
Acting officer of the Fire Service Media Cell Talha Bin Jasim said the fire broke out at 7:50 am (Friday) at house number 18, road number 11, sector 11 at Uttara in the capital.
He said the North Fire Station dispatched two units at 7:54 am, which arrived at 7:58 am and immediately began controlling the blaze.
"After nearly half an hour of work, the fire was brought under control at 8:25 am and was fully extinguished by around 10:00 am," he said.
