Sri Lanka beat India by six wickets in the T20 World Cup final at Dhaka's Mirpur stadium Sunday to clinch the much-coveted title.
Mr Dependable Sangakkara did the damage, as he scored the most important 52 runs off 35 balls to seal the victory with 13 balls to spare.
India's Raina, Mishra, Ashwin and Sharma clinched one wicket each.
AFP adds: Earlier batting first India managed a below-par total of 130-4 against Sri Lanka despite a brilliant half-century by Virat Kohli.
Kohli scored a 58-ball 77 for his eighth Twenty20 half-century-his fourth in this tournament-after Sri Lanka sent India in to bat at the Shere Bangla stadium in a match delayed by 40 minutes due to rain.
The rain spiced up the pitch for bowlers but Kohli was at his best when he came to the crease after India lost Ajinkya Rahane (three) in Angelo Mathews's second over of the innings.
