SSC, equivalent exams begin today

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC), SSC Vocational and Dakhil examinations-2010 begin today (Thursday) throughout the country. Bangla first paper examination will be held today.
Some 1,206,019 candidates from 26,192 educational institutions will appear in the examinations in 2,044 centres under the ten education boards this year. Of them, 627,672 are male and 578,347 female.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in an order has banned movement of people, except examinees, within 200 yards of examination centres till March 18 during the exam hours.
Terming copying in examination as a danger, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at a press conference in his secretariat office Wednesday said adoptation of any unfair means in the examination halls would be checked in iron hand.
