A Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee and a Bangladesh Bank (BB) official were killed in two separate road accidents in the city on Tuesday.
The SSC examinee, Sakibul Islam (15), was killed near Mohakhali flyover, as he took his head out of the window of a running bus, and suddenly collided with a roadside lamp-post at around 9:30 am.
Sakibul, a student of Banani Bidyaniketan, was going to the examination centre with his mother for attending English First Paper exam, said Banani Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Golam Rabbani.
After the incident, the victim was taken to a hospital with severe injury and then transferred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where on-duty doctors declared him dead, said DMCH police camp SI Bacchu Mia.
Sakibul was the younger of the two children of Jahangir Alam and Farida Yasmin.
Earlier on the day, Golam Hossain (55), a deputy director of BB, was killed in a bus accident near Ittefaq Mor at Tikatuli at around 8:15 am, said Mr Bacchu Mia.
The incident happened, as the driver of a bus, heading towards Gabtoli from Jatrabari, lost control. The vehicle, with Mr Hossain on its board, flipped after crashing with a road-divider. Three other people were also injured in the accident, he added.
Though the police seized the bus, the driver managed to flee right after the incident, said the duty officer of Wari Police Station.
