Despite a normal flow in the country's major rivers, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, or BMD, has warned of short-term flood situations in some parts of the nation's northern, northeastern and southeastern hilly basins owing to heavy rains in October, reports bdnews24.com.
Along with the message, the long-term outlook of the Met Office on Tuesday said moderate to severe thunderstorms are likely in the northern and central parts of the country for two to four days in October.
The BMD also predicts light to moderate thunderstorms for three to five days over the country.
Although monsoon falls in the Bengali months of Ashar and Srabon in Bangladesh, it brings at least four months of rain, which usually ends at the end of September.
However, the long-term forecast said the southwest monsoon trough, which brings rain, will gradually ease in the first half of October.
Up to three low-pressure areas are also likely to form over the Bay of Bengal during the month, of which, one is likely to intensify into a depression or cyclone.
The Met Office said there's a 'possibility of more than normal rainfall' in October.
Day and night temperatures are expected to gradually decrease, though they may still remain slightly above normal.
