Survey ship for Navy arrives at Ctg

A hydrographic survey ship BNS Anushandhan arrived at Chittagong from England Friday. The Anushandhan, purchased from Royal British Navy, is a modern hydrographic survey ship of Royal British Navy named "Ex HMS Roebuck" which will be able to carry out international standard survey at any place in the world. The long-awaited dedicated hydrographic survey vessel, the first of its kind, has been purchased during the 2009-2010 fiscal for Bangladesh Navy. The ship was formally handed over to Bangladesh Navy from British Navy at government level at Portsmouth Victory Jetty on May 28 this year, said an ISPR press release. On completion of necessary preparation, Bangladeshi officers and sailors led by Commanding Officer of the ship, Commander M Nayeem Golam Muktadir, started voyage from England to Bangladesh on June 4 last. Commodore commanding Chittagong, senior naval officers and a large number of sailors welcomed the BNS Anushandhan at Chittagong Port Navy Jetty. — BSS
