Swine flu, already pandemic in the world, has been declared spreading fast in the country within two weeks of detecting the first patient with H1N1 virus, according to IEDCR.
The official count of people infected with swine flu reached 259 after twelve more fresh cases were detected on Wednesday, the IEDCR director said.
Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) stopped all medical tests to detect H1N1 virus as increasing number of suspected patients started to rush to the hospital with symptoms of the disease.
The symptom of swine flu is high fever with respiratory problems and coughs.
"One will have to take physician's advice and take cautionary measures after the symptoms are noticed," the IEDCR director said.
According to experts, Bangladesh has already crossed danger level 2. Though it has not turned an epidemic, the situation is not very different.
The World Health Organisation declared swine flu pandemic on June 11. As many as 2,185 people have died from the H1N1 virus so far. Over 20 lakh people were detected with the virus.
Experts suggested people refrain from spitting here and there, and wash hands with soap for at least 20 seconds after sneezing to curb spread of the H1N1 virus.
The IEDCR also issued necessary instructions to all hospitals and clinics including advising people having normal influenza symptoms to remain in doors and take all safety measures side by side with specific treatment.
