Tech weakness main reason for citizens' data leak

Web application's technological weakness was the main reason for data leak from a public organisation's server, a government investigation report has revealed.

The report suggestes a set of recommendations for organisation, including a foolproof examination by government agencies with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) experts.

The findings of the report were unveiled at a meeting of the ICT division held at its office on Monday. Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak chaired the meeting.

The investigation report revealed that there has been absence of proper supervision of the web application due to the unavailability of technologically skilled human resources at the organisation.

The report didn't mention the name of the organisation that fell victim to the data breach.

The latest report recommended increasing the overall technical capacity along with increasing the number of technical team members of the public organisation.

After the meeting, Mr Palak told the media that the investigation committee could not find out how much information of the citizens was leaked from the website.
