Metro rail faced a technical glitch on the first day of operation under new timings, leaving the entire train movement suspended for over an hour on Saturday afternoon.
According to passengers and officials, train number seven stopped at Pallabi station around 2:30 pm but could not start as one door did not shut automatically after a 30-second interval.
Although the issue was brought to notice through an announcement, the passengers said it took almost an hour to fix the problem.
An FE reporter was also on board the train at that time.
Some passengers who boarded from Uttara station told the FE reporter that the same train also got stranded for 25 minutes at that station.
The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited started the train operation reducing the headway time between two trains to eight minutes during peak hours.
The mass rapid transit line (MRT-06) experienced huge crowds in almost all trains during peak and off peak hours since the operation time was extended from 7:10 am to 8:00 pm on January 20.
However, the state-owned company continued to face several technical problems since then.
Although the last Wednesday's train suspension was related to fall of a kite on the electric line, DMTCL was helpless on February 04 and January 23.
The highest two hours halt of the train movement was recorded on August 23 and February 03.
Company secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf told the FE that resuming the train operation took time for arrival of the technical person on the spot from other place.
He, however, showed his ignorance of any technical cause for the delay at Uttara station.
