TIB for anti-graft drive from household level

April 02, 2015 00:00:00

Executive director of the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Dr Iftekharuzzaman said Wednesday vigorous campaigns must be launched from the household level to effectively fight corruption in the country, reports UNB.

"If there is a strong political will and proper trial of graft cases and institutional capacity is strengthened, it will be possible to check corruption in the country," he told a discussion.

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) organised the discussion, titled 'Political commitment and administrative reform together can prevent corruption' at its conference room in the capital marking its Corruption Prevention Week 2015.

Recalling the historic speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Iftekharuzzaman said Bangabandhu had called upon all to build fort in every household, and the same way social movement against corruption must be launched from household level while the young generation has to play a pioneering role.
