Abdur Razzak MP who led a parliamentary delegation on its fact-finding trip to the controversial Tipaimukh dam site said in Dhaka Tuesday that the team was convinced of Indian Ministers' assurances that New Delhi won't do anything inimical to Bangladesh's interests in terms of river system or ecological problem.
"They (India) will not take any project that might harm Bangladesh's interest….And we're convinced of their assurance," he told reporters at Zia international airport on their return from New Delhi after the weeklong visit, reports UNB.
Razzak, who is the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on the water resources ministry, said they went to New Delhi with two objectives -- one is to collect data and information about the proposed dam and the other to make spot visit to the dam site.
"Our mission is 100 percent successful. We've received data and information from the Indian side, which were not available in last 25-30 years," he said, adding that India is ready to provide more information about the planned dam and asked the delegation to give them a list detailing their required information.
