Tk 3.36m looted from Akij Co vaults

NARAYANGANJ, July 19: A daring robbery was committed at local sales office of Akij Corporation at Madaninagar in Siddhirganj thana Saturday night. Police and locals said that Tk 3.36 million (33.67 lakh) was looted from two vaults of the office, situated at the ground floor of a multi-storied building owned by one Ekramul Haq. Police, quoting in-charge of the office, said that the robbery was committed sometimes at night after 6.00 office staff, including the security guard, lost senses following their return to the office from a birthday party at a flat on the 3rd floor of the building rented by one Azad who, they alleged, served them birthday cakes mixed with sedatives. The six staff members Sumon and Russell, store helpers Farid and Sohel, security guard Abdur Rahman and van driver of the company Rubel were admitted to the hospital in the town.
