Toyota Motor Corp has agreed to pay a record $16.4 million (10.7 million pound) fine to the US safety regulators for delaying a massive recall over defective accelerator pedals. "By failing to report known safety problems as it is required to do under the law, Toyota put consumers at risk," US Transportation Department Secretary Ray LaHood said in a statement.
