Trade deficit stands at $5.7b in 10 months

Commerce Minister Muhammad Faruq Khan Wednesday said the country's trade deficit over the last 10 months of the current fiscal year till April stood at US dollar 5,728.30 million, reports BSS.
Replying to a question, he said the country witnessed a $ 6,942 million trade deficit in the 2008-09 fiscal year.
The commerce minister said the present government has undertaken all-out initiatives to reduce trade deficit by increasing export and cutting import. "To increase export, the government has framed the Export Policy for 2009-2012 by making it time-befitting and realistic," he said.
