FE Report
Tullow, an Irish oil and gas exploration company, has planned to raise gas output from one of its blocks in Bangladesh to 100 million standard cubic feet per day (mmcfd) by October 2008.
"We have plans for further development in Bangladesh to produce 30-40 per cent more gas from Block-9 in September-October 2008," Tullow's Asia Business Manager Kevin Quinn announced Friday in the Indian capital New Delhi.
Currently, Tullow produces 75 mmcf of gas a day from its Bangladesh blocks.
Tullow Oil has an interest in three blocks in Bangladesh, two in India and eight in Pakistan.
In May 2006, it initiated trial production from the Bangora-1 well in Block 9, the company's first production in Bangladesh.
Tullow is the operator of the block 9 with 30 per cent share. Canadian Niko Resources holds 60 per cent share while Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX) 10 per cent.
Energy ministry sources said around 1700 mmcfd gas is now available in the national grid.
