Turkish textile giant Sanko group has proposed investing around $300 million to establish an integrated textile manufacturing facility in the Mirsarai Industrial Zone, aiming to expand Bangladesh's high-value textile production.
Sanko said the project will include fabric manufacturing, processing and production of value-added textile products, enabling Bangladesh to better serve global apparel brands while attracting new international buyers.
The company said it plans to begin the next phase within a few months, subject to regulatory approvals, with full implementation expected 12 to 18 months after construction starts.
Sanko sought government support for gas, electricity and other infrastructure, adding that the facility will use environmentally-friendly, coal-free technologies in line with global sustainability standards.
Welcoming the proposal, the minister assured the Turkish investor of the government's full support, saying the investment would help create jobs, transfer advanced technology and strengthen Bangladesh's textile export competitiveness.
