Two roundtables on Day 1
October 28, 2008 00:00:00
There will be two parallel roundtables on the first day of the International Business Conference (IBC) at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) on October 31, 2008
Roundtable 1: Business Strategies in a World of Change: Business solutions can be big and durable, small and consumable, or completely intangible. Past data can provide background for future decisions, but projections rely heavily on consistency between the past and the future. This is where lies the importance of open discussion to draw an outline for future business planning. Executive Director of ITC, Patricia Francis, Editor of Business World India Jahangir S Pocha and Professor Poul Schultz from Copenhagen Business School and Director of Asia Business Forum will participate in the discussion. MCCI President Latifur Rahman will moderate the season.
Roundtable 2: Impact of WTO on SMEs: The setting up of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in 1995 has altered the framework of international trade towards non-distortive, market-oriented policies. This is in line with the policy shift that occurred worldwide since the early 1980s in favour of free market forces and a tilt away from state regulation/intervention in economic activity.
