Detective police Friday arrested a Bangladeshi-born British citizen from Sylhet for his alleged involvement in financing militant groups in UK, police said. A senior DB (Detective Branch) official said they arrested Golam Mostafa, the UK Ameer of outlawed militant outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami (HUJI), from Goakhuri village in Biswanath upazila of Sylhet for allegedly trying to organise and strengthen the banned outfit secretly. The 45-year-old Golam Mostafa was later brought to the capital for interrogation. "Mostafa is a listed militant and wanted by the British government," DMP (Dhaka Metropolitan Police) Commissioner AKM Shahidul Haq told reporters at a press briefing.
