The United Nations (UN) has expressed its concern over the ongoing violence and the loss of lives that Bangladesh is witnessing.
Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, expressed the worries on February 11 last while responding to a question of a journalist at the daily press briefing by the office of the spokesperson for the Secretary-General.
"The former Assistant Secretary-General, in charge of Political Affairs, Oscar Fernández-Taranco, has been tasked by the Secretary-General to liaise with the government and he is doing just that," Mr Stephane said while he was asked about the UN moves to mediate problems in Bangladesh.
He said the Secretary-General was personally committed to the stability and positive development of Bangladesh.
"And obviously, I think, as we've said here a number of times, we are very much concerned about the violence and the loss of lives that's occurred in Bangladesh since the beginning of last year," the spokesman for the UN Secretary General said.
