Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed warned Monday that unethical practices at the polling centres on the election day of the three city corporations would not be tolerated.
"Any sorts of unethical interference will not be tolerated at the polling centres," he said while exchanging views with the mayoral and councillor candidates of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) at the auditorium of the Agriculturist Institute at Khamarbari in the city.
He called upon the candidates not to use muscle power and black money in the elections.
Mayoral candidates and councillors including Awami League-backed candidate Syed Khokon among others were present. But BNP-backed candidate Mirza Abbas was not present but sent a representative on his behalf in the meeting.
Most of the mayoral and councillor candidates urged the EC for deployment of army so that the polls on April 28 could be held in a free and fair manner.
The CEC said the decision on deployment of army during the city corporation elections will be taken on April 19.
