Union Parishad polls in January

Union Parishad (UP) elections will be held from January 2010, Election Commission (EC) sources said Sunday. They said the tenure of about 80 per cent or 4,400 UPs of total 4,504 unions has already expired. EC cannot hold elections in 95 unions for cases pending in courts and disputes over boundary demarcation.
