A total of 1,275 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus during the 24-hour period, according to a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The deadly pathogen also claimed 32 more lives during the period, raising the death toll to 5,161 since the virus was detected in the country in March this year, it added.
In the 24-hour period under review, a total of 10,685 samples were tested across the country and 1,275 of them were found Covid-19 positive as against 1,106 cases in the previous 24-hour period ending on Saturday morning.
Some 10,765 samples were tested during the previous 24-hour period ending on Saturday morning.
The number of fatalities reported on Sunday was 32, down from 36 deaths the previous day witnessed.
Of the 32 victims, 22 were males and 10 females.
The rate of fatalities from the disease remained almost static at 1.44 per cent while the rate of recovery was recorded at 75.31 per cent, the DGHS release said.
The rate of detection in the last 24 hours ending Sunday morning was 11.93 per cent, it added.
According to the official press statement, a total of 359,148 people have, so far, been infected with coronavirus and 270,491 of them recovered.
