US envoy Blake arrives today

Robert O Blake, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, will arrive in the city today (Saturday) on a four-day visit to Bangladesh on the second leg of his three-Asian nation tour. Blake will hold bilateral consultations with the government, and will meet civil society leaders and the opposition. He will also attend the Regional Strategic Initiative (RSI) Conference in Dhaka on March 22, according to a US State Department release. A US Embassy release said Blake is coming for meetings with senior government officials, civil society leaders, and high-level US government officials from the region. -UNB
