US deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) Nicole Ann Chulick and deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs Andrew R Herrup arrive in Dhaka early today (Wednesday) on a three-day visit.
This will be the first delegation from US President Donald Trump's administration to visit Bangladesh.
The US officials are scheduled to meet with foreign adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman and other senior government representatives on Thursday, a foreign ministry official familiar with the matter told BSS on Tuesday.
The delegation is likely to hold separate meetings with leaders of various political parties, as well as representatives of civil society.
The foreign ministry official said Nicole Chulick would focus on discussions on the interim government's reform processes and democratic transition in Bangladesh. On the other hand, during Andrew Herrup's visit the Rohingya crisis and the situation in Myanmar would also be discussed.
