US secret service to help bankers detect counterfeit $

The United States Secret Service will impart training to local bankers to help detect counterfeit US dollars in Bangladesh.
The visiting two-member US Secret Service team conveyed the message at a meeting with chief executives of different local and foreign commercial banks held at the Bangladesh Bank (BB) Sunday. Deputy Governor Ziaul Hassan Siddiqi presided over the meeting.
"The US secret service has agreed to provide training to local bankers after January next," a BB senior official told the FE after the meeting.
The central bank also requested the team to extend their training facilities to the money changers who deal in US currency, the BB official added.
"We want to know from the team the ways to identify counterfeit US dollars without knowing its security features and other techniques," the executive said.
He also said then the team informed the chief executives of providing them training about detection of fake US currency.
The US Secret Service Special Agents Chiko DN Hoge and Domenic Scozzafava arrived in Dhaka early Sunday to conduct a seminar on counterfeit US currency detection held at the central bank Sunday morning.
Treasury heads of all commercial banks attended the seminar to gather knowledge about security features of the greenback that would be used to detect counterfeit US dollar.
"The team discussed about detection of counterfeit US dollar using deferent techniques," a treasury chief of a PCB told the FE, adding that they also stressed to build up awareness among people, bankers and money changers for curbing such US currency.
The team will meet authorities concerned of the government during the visit to know about development of case relating to counterfeit US dollar, which had filed earlier, the BB officials added.
