Users cautioned over plot against Chittagong Port

The Port Users Forum (PUF) at a meeting Saturday urged the government and the people concerned to retain the progress Chittagong Port made during the last two years.
The PUF organised the meeting at the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) auditorium. MA Latif, CCCI president, presided over the meeting with all port users attending the hurriedly-called meeting.
"We are seeing vested quarters trying to destabilise the port activities on different grounds. So we urged all concerned to remain alert and take appropriate steps to continue the smooth port operation," MA Latif added.
MA Latif, who is also chairman of the PUF, urged the port users to keep in close touches with the port authority and the shipping ministry to foil any move to hamper port work by any vested quarters.
CCCI senior vice president MA Salam, vice president SM Shafiul Hoque, CCCI director Wasiur Rahman Chowdhury, BGMEA first vice president Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, president of Bangladesh Shipping Agents Association Ahsanul Hoque Chowdhury, co-convenor of Water Transport Coordination Cell Md Tazul Islam, president of Chittagong Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents Association Akter Hossain, and president of Chittagong Port Truck Owners Association, among others, were present at the meeting.
